Location:- Outer Ring Road
Hare:- Kim Chaubert

Pushing the Port and Unico Golf Course into second and third position respectively is the latest popular run site “The NEW Hash Bridge”.  For those out of the loop, our esteemed GM took the Harriettes there on the 1st March and the Monday Hash has been there twice since then.

Hare Normal called up the GM from the trail asking for run tips.  It is hard enough these days giving directions in the city. 7/11s are no longer landmarks, they are indicators of street corners, what used to be “turn left at the 7/11”  is now, pass six 7/11s and turn left at the third generic Roti Boy.  Having no 7/11s near the NEW Hash Bridge, and certainly no Roti Boys made giving tips to the hare was rather difficult; “Take the small trail after the house where the fat friendly woman cleans and guts fish” doesn’t really work.

The New Hash Bridge is testimony to Thailand’s civil engineering marvels.  The bridge runs from the Outer Ling Load Local Load towards Rom Klao Road. If it were not for the concrete barriers at the top of the bridge, the road would be a death trap; a paved version of a ski jump. Despite its dangers, the bridge offers mosquito free, moonlit views of the countryside at 10 metres above the smogline and pissing off the edge into the water below is a rare pleasure.

Hare Normal announced that the trail would be marked using the GM’s “back checks only” technique.  A Man called Horse grumbled “A backcheck is a circle not a cross” and off we went.  Immediate confusion among the front runners at the first few checks; Grecian 2000 / Bad Boy Bubby and Satrajan Kee Mau could not work out what was going on.  A Man called Horse refused to accept that a cross was a backcheck and checked forward every time. The backrunners and short cutters kept with the pack for a short, but fun 40 minutes.

Back on top of the bridge the barbeque was blazing and a feast was being prepared for all the visitors that were in town for the previous Saturday’s BH3 1,500 run. When the GM called the circle, out of town visitors were asked to step forward – there were none.  The Hare was praised for a good run (and a certain good feast to follow). New Boot Urika(?) was dragged in for trying to conceal a copy of Asian Specific Horror in an envelope. RA Satrajan Kee Mau failed to offer us any birthdays, obituaries or on this day in history reports.

A free ONONON was announced – Gumbo, barbeque and a huge spread of treats from the Chaubert kitchen.  We stayed on very late and were joined on the parallel bridge by a group of teenagers on motorbikes with bottles booze and girls.  A bit like the BMH3 really, except we arrive in cars and taxis and when we leave we “return the mugs” – they just break the empty bottles.  The beer kept flowing (as opposed to the BH3 1500 where it ran out) and the diehards finally left at midnight.  GOOD RUN!
