Run:- 1210.   Date:- 29 May 2006.
Location:- Wat Yai
Hare:- Joost "Hashendale" Zwagger
Scribe:- ???

Despite the Hare’s failure to return before the  start, some 40+ Hashers trotted away into the early evening.  An earlier  indication of cloud had gone, and the weather was really excellent for Hashing.

An early loop and check kept the pack together, and allowed any late arrivals to catch up.  We ran amongst the rice paddies, slipping and sliding along the narrow walk-ways between the fields, to the surprise and amusement of some of the farmers  who were out cultivating  on their tractors. Your scribe noticed that much of this land has been irrigated so frequently that large amounts of salt could be seen on the surface – almost giving the impression that the Hare had used flour as well as paper (he hadn’t).  At one point, the front runners were held up by several small children carrying their bicycles through deep grass –  a problem that I had never previously encountered on the Hash.

Some of the countryside that we ran through was some of the nicest that I can remember with the Bangkok Monday Hash, and the good checks and well marked trail (this not as common as it should be) made this a very enjoyable run.  The pack returned back to Wat Yai in just over an hour.

At the circle, there were about a dozen returners: this was a well attended run.  Curiously, some new virgin runners – three in all – didn’t even wait for the circle before slipping away “ for an urgent dinner appointment”.  (Typical beginners’ luck – they got a taxi at the run-site about 30 seconds after they said they had to go !!)  The usual Hash rough justice was meted out by the GM at al, and POTW was awarded to the Hon Sec for some reason that completely deserts me.

At the On On On, which was attended by  some 20+ people, we were treated to good and quite spicey Thai food washed down with copious quantities of the amber  nectar.

Al in all, a very pleasant evening – our grateful thanks to the Hare.
