Scribe:- Peter Haycox

I have never scribed one of these in a long time and the memory of last night is rather Vague……….

Expecting a run in Lumpini Park perhaps on on to the Tobaca Monopoly well you know, the usual, I was puzzled to learn an arrival at Noriega’s that the Nonthaburi 4 had set-off already.

Tickets for the BTS were handed out and 5 Baht for the river crossing – oh! a city run then, brave man I thought. We travelled to Saphan Taksin about 15 of us towering above the sea of yellow and met up with the above mentioned athletes after we crossed the river bridge. The train ride proved too much for the gentleman from Bangladesh who set off to find a boat - cilly sunt.

We explored to sights and smells of areas where even the dogs had deteriorated to the point of being lifeless, a garbage strewn wilderness of narrow passages, industrial waste and traffic, with only the motor cycles showing any signs of movement shouting above the background din we eventually managed to find our way back to the river for the boat crossing and some pleasant relief. The GM said wait for the second boat, lets reassemble and run the trail like true hash comrades, of course there are no rules so the FRB’s immediately set off anyway - notably the aforementioned gang of 4,others followed. We had managed to find the trail all the way back as far as Silom Village. Then it disappeared, later I came to learn that the ‘Mae Bahn’ disgusted at some Farang messing her floor had removed all traces. After milling around for a while most of us set off up Silom road and a cold beer - while back at the restaurant Noriega eventually found the trail and led a few genuine hashers back in 10 minutes later - in all an hour and twenty for the front runners.

Visitor, the man from Bangladesh handed out souvenirs to GM’s and the b’day boy. By now the ranks had swelled with over dressed late arrivals while some unsavoury characters lurking close-by. The Weinands sisters put on mini skirts - improperly dressed in the circle(? ). Down downs to almost ever one present and the 100 run mug to your truly with a 200run mug to a female non-runner on the day, I was appalled to see a lot of the so called drinkers selected water, what is hashing about I always thought drinkers with a running problem, what’s changed?

I should have made some notes, perhaps and got some names never mind perhaps next time. After the circle George pushed out the boat washing down food expertly created by Noriega’s kitchen and shared by whoever or whatever was in the bar at the time. This brought to an end my part of the evening that had just began to liven up and with the band warming up I beat an unsteady exit.
