Circle was called on Golden Pond as the sun set over the abandoned shop-houses, as the local goats assembled in greater numbers nearby perhaps on a foray to eat the hash paper, finally a late taxi splattered through the bullshit to break the peaceful scene ……. and we were off…. On Golden Pond - A famous film of that name co-starred Jane Fonda. As I recall it was a boring effort of an old guy played by Henri Fonda trying to get it up an equally aged female or Jane Fonda or both – I can’t recall the details. As was pointed out at the circle a much better flick starring Jane in her sexy pre-war days was Barbrella. It was made by the French guy who was shagging her at the time, quite brilliant, funny and undoubtedly one of the best films ever made, it featured the naked Jane coming in a kind of bath tub amongst other memorable events.
Maverick laid a tricky effort with good checks and lots of running in an open area quite close to the city but still free from the developers clutches. The trail can be summed up two parts: the first on often badly pitted concrete footpaths alongside klongs, the second on dusty unpaved roads. The small pack became spread out as darkness fell and as the hot dusty conditions and the long run in took their toll
One act of courage that should not pass without due recognition - Lem, No Good Boyo calmed a mad bull enraged by the FRB’s and refusing passage to the rest of us, Lem the bull whisperer and I thought the Welsh had only intimate knowledge of sheep.
Cars were seen in the distance is that the hash site? Alas another bunch of people altogether, luckily I didn’t demand a beer and it was on on for another one km or so.
Back on Golden Pond Tim Joylide set a camp fire to keep the mozzies at bay, the evening still hot and humid and everyone apart from the ladies of course sweating profusely ensured much social drinking. As usual most of the female hashers disappeared before the circle which was a pity for Jeanine who missed receiving her 100 run mug, which then mysteriously disappeared….
The sexily but over dressed lady in high heals and glasses won the Prick of the Week contest and the chivalrous Ian AKM helped her with the down-down. The Prick itself did not put in an appearance however, a Man called Horse was asked to supply a substitute but gracefully declined.
