Run:- 1300                   Date:- 18 February 2008.
Location:- Wat Laem, Industrial Ring Road
Hare:- Love Canal
Scribe:- Disgusting

It was a pleasant Monday afternoon. The number 75 bus from Suriwong took your scribe to Suksawad Road where a shift was made to bus no 82. The bustrip ended at the 24 hour ferry landing opposite to the starting point. And then the ferry. Soon afterwards Naret came, followed by Sunee. At this point, cars were shifted to the larger area where it would be more suitable for the circle. Being the hare for the next week, your scribe decided to make himself popular by standing at the entrance towards Wat Laem, as there was no HHH sign. Towards the kickoff time a sign was produced and placed on the sign board. Why am I writing all this above drivel ? Because there was not much to write about the run. I have to fill space one way or the other.

Five minutes after 5.15 pm the GM called the starting circle. The Hare revealed that the run was set with paper, powder and chalk. The signs "yes" meant "on" and "no" meant "not on". He also assured that the run was only 5.5 km, and hence, shortcutting was unnecessary. Equipped with this bit of very valuable information runners piled into a songthaew. It took almost 15 minutes to the beginning of the run, which aroused the suspicion that the run could very well be much longer.

Left move on a concrete path and then a check was located. This led to a quite long false trail. And then trail was found and soon the second check was reached. Again wasting time looking this way and that, and the pack took off again. The trail was leading through a populated area with a traffic of motorbikes. It appeared that if you came from the opposite direction the "no" sign turned out to be "on" . Carry on. It was not easy going with checks taking a long time to solve. And it appeared that the run could actually be much longer than what the Hare had said. At this point, after consulting the natives, your scribe took off towards the beer. The busy market with a plastic playground was there with a lot of kids on it. And continuing the way, the car park was reached in about 50 minutes. Another 5 minutes later the front runners started to turn in. According to them the last 3 km of the trail was straight. It turned out that your scribe did not miss much, except the lepers colony that the others had to go through. Frisky handed out decent 1300 the run t-shirts of yellow colour. A long pre-circle session, with cleaning up and social drinking was finally followed by the call for the circle by the GM.

He handed the usual down/downs for the returnees/visitors, among whom the friend of Janine from the old lowlands was prominent. Actually, she stayed for the whole circle and was rewarded with the prick-of-the-week statute. There were other downdowns such as for the Sweety Freddie for living with Greeks for so long, or was it that he was in love with Sego. Now for something else.

It has to be recognized with much appreciation the hard work that Kim Normal puts every week and the delicious snacks that she provides. Off couse, the beer is frosty, just right. This young lady, after completing her run, immediately gets on with the business of arranging the tables, snacks, beer, and downdowns. What energy !

Back to the circle. At the end the GM, closing the circle, asked the Hare where the ONONON would be. Apparently it was to be at the other side of the river, requiring a ferry roundtrip. At this point, your scribe was given a lift to town by a kind-hearted gentleman of the Hash. The rest is history. ON!ON!
