Scribe:- AnonIn 1960, the Director-General of the Vocational Education Commission discovered that there was a piece of 32-rai land at Tambon Bangmod, Amphur Ratchburana, Thonburi Province and owned by the Crown Property Bureau had been rented by the Ministry of Education. The property consisted of a standard two-story building with 14 classrooms, housing for the faculty, and a small cafeteria, that had been completed since 1958. All the premises were vacant despite the availability of electricity, tap water, telephone lines, which meant that the property could be immediately utilized. As a result, the Director-General proposed that the property be the location of a new institution called “Thonburi College of Technology”.
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi was founded from Thonburi College of Technology which was under the supervision of the Vocational Education Commission, the Ministry of Education on February 4, 1960.
If the Director General had formed a hash that same day, the KMUTTH3 would be on run # 2,509 last Monday 3rd March. He didn't form a hash, but KMUTT did employ an Ajarn, called Mini, who is a hasher.
Ajarn Mini was greeting those arriving at the disfunctional fountain holding a copy of the latest book that he was reading: “The Thai Architect's Guide to Forging Links with Those in Struggle” by Somchai Shophousewongwongse. Mini decided to take us through a detailed survey of the campus. Many of our hashing colleagues, especially those directionally challenged, use a GPS to trace their route. Above is the GPS-Google earth download of our run last Monday. We were set off on a trail around the campus, where we found the in paper, the out paper, the shake the flour all about etc etc. Then we went through the main gate for a bit and back in again.
Back at the unfinished fountain a number of lost hashers had manged to find their way to the KMUTT Department of Park Benches. Golden Shower was reading a copy of Gabriel García Márquez's posthumous novel “One Hundred Years of Hashing”. GM was injured and icing his swollen knee. Noriega was explaining his detailed plan for a multibarplex on the Campus.
Plenty of snacks and beer later, the GM called the circle (as he does). Amazingly, this week, everyone stood to attention, silently within seconds. Finally, after nearly three months into the job he is taking control. Was it sympathy for his injury? Who knows. A fun circle, and we departed for a the Bee Hive restaurant nearby. A good feed, interrupted by a minor/major altercation between a couple of our minor / major, newer / older members.
