Misdirections to Wat Daeng
Take the second stage expressway towards Chaeng Wattana. After the 10 baht toll plaza take the Ngam Wong Wan exit and turn left towards Khae Rai. Get in the outside lanes and go over the Khae Rai flyover into Tanon Rattana Tibet.
About 6km from the expressway go straight across at the traffic lights and cross over the Chao Phraya River at the Nang Klao bridge (The Hash bridge).
About 3km after the river you will reach a flyover complex. Follow the signs to make a U-turn, and head back towards town for a few hundred metres. Then turn left down a busy soi. Zero your odometer (or note the kilometre reading on the meter if you are in a taxi).
At approx. 1.7km you will see a bus parking area. Pass the buses, go on for about 200m and turn right.
Follow this road and at about 3.3km and turn right. At 3.7km turn right. The road wiggles around a lot and to the left, over an open field of building sites, you can see the old concrete pilings we've run through sooooo many times before.
At 4.8km you will see an open piece of ground on which you can park.
These distances are very approximate because our odometer has broken.
Get the train to Morchit. Go down to the street on the same side as the platform (beside Chatuchak park). Get a taxi heading out of town. After 1km at a big intersection the taxi should turn left onto Viphavadee Rangsit Road. After a further 4km turn left into Ngam Wong Wan Road. This road leads to Kae Rai, from where you can follow the directions shown above.
