Run no:- 1360 Date:- 13 April 2009 (Songkran day)
Location:- Restaurant near Wat Kaew Pitak
Hares:- Non Stop, Sugar Daddy and Stumbles (carrying the phone)
Scribe:- No No
Since next week’s Hare failed to show up at this run, (allegedly because he is terrified of 14 year-old Thai girls with cups of water,) I was pressured into doing this week’s write-up.
A very small, but extremely select group gathered at the Restaurant car park opposite the Wat. Although the number was small, it was probably still an illegal assembly given the State of Emergency that was in force at the time. Just before the run started to everyone’s amazement, Frank and an American visitor rocked up in a Song-graan smeared taxi. Since a) the Beer truck hadn’t arrived and b) he had left all his money at home, Noriega tried to persuade a stony-faced Hash Cash that he (a poor Burmese immigrant) should not have to pay his run fee. Sadly Hash Cash originates from Scotland, and has entirely the wrong genetic profile to entertain desperate requests of this sort. The American visitor had to pay for them both, but Frank promised to re-imburse him later (?!!?)
The run then set off, but before long, the pack had split into two groups, with the front runners doing an excellent job of breaking the checks. The terrain was varied and excellent ranging from Khlong paths to pleasant open country which was pleasantly green. It was a well-marked trail. Several latecomers showed up as the run progressed.
Despite it being Song-graan, the pack were not much harassed with water, and most of the pack made it back to the Restaurant within 65 minutes. A lively circle ensued with Noriega acting as RA, and Maverick running the circle. Noriega declared that Maverick was clearly GM material and should be next year’s GM. (For Christ’s sake – get real! Who is going to do the Web-site? – Ed )
Since the only woman at the run was the co-hare, Som, then somewhat predictably POTW was given to the American visitor. Since neither the Prick nor the baptismal chamber for the beer were available this didn’t have quite its usual impact !
The On-on-on was a very select gathering who enjoyed very good company and copious quantities of the amber nectar.
Despite the small number attending this turned out to be most enjoyable Hash and an entertaining evening. Well done the Hares!
