- TWO BALD Hares in Taling Chan
The faithful assembled at the appointed time at the appointed place in an area well known to the Hare (and the rest of us) to receive yet another one of his usually very good runs. The hare requested that all runners carry B20 to cover the cost of two klong crossings (normal cost B2 ea trip!).
On out across the road and ON down the small sub-soi on paper. At the end a right hand turn identifies the "ON IN" in chalk so running in reverse was possible (Did anyone do it? YES). On to the first boat trip across the klong. Unfortunately a queue as two small boats could only ferry two or three runners across at a time. The result of this was a long, strung out pack as they crossed and carried on "On paper" on trail. Hash Flash lecherously waiting for an incident to record swimmers in the klong as the wonky boats made their way slowly from side to side. But alas, no catastrophic events to report (on the first ferry ride).
ON ON along some mostly jungle trails and some areas easily recognizable from previous runs with a variety of hares as we crossed trails laid evidenced by traces of OLD paper here and there. Some good checks and lots of irregular terrain kept the pack mostly walking, meandering through dense bush and jungle and eventually across the second boat ferry; ONE old man this time carrying three across at a time over a klong at low tide proving very fragrant with the black muck exposed and a adventurous disembarkation on the other side; difficult to get a solid foothold and avoid slipping on your buttski in the muck.
More jungle and then on to elevated concrete walkways and along the klong, over the bridge and finally "on in" home, in my case an hour and ten minutes; "long and hard" said the actress to the Bishop! Seemed like a good 10 clicks to me.
Evidently The Tickler in his wisdom, decided that he would NOT queue up to take the first boat over and went back to the "On In" and did the run in reverse. Most bumped into him somewhere along the trail as he was reversing but he seemed to get flummoxed out there because he returned alone well after dark; about 19:30 with his flashlight guiding the way and to the cheers of the by now, well-oiled pack grazing and imbibing at the piss truck.
Finally, our illustrious GM called the circle and welcomed the Hare in to explain his actions and get opinions from the assembled pack. All seemed to concur that Drunken Donut set a great run and received his traditional down-down; thanks for an excellent run.
The Mexican lady seemed to enjoy the adventure but "hit the road" prior to the circle so the GM couldn't welcome her but managed to get in a NEW BOOT; Drew "Short Time" Jeschke. Welcome to the BMH3! Visitor Natasha from the UK was welcomed with a down-down and was a nominee for POTW but the "weiner" for the event was our own Pink Panther.
Following more social drinking, the remaining, staying members adjourned to the restaurant to enjoy the local Thai food dinner arranged by the Hare sans Dom Perignon which we were ALL expecting. An enjoyable run in a good area and good On On On. Thanks to the Hare!
