Run 1673, 13 April 2015 - Songkran Day
Hare: Rawhide and Virginia Slim
Location: Phra Athit Road
Songkran Debauchery
A few of us decided to take a taxi from the Landmark and incredibly it took less than half an hour to get to Phra Athit Road. I was expecting a small pack but there were over 40 with almost half being visitors. Malinee had occupied the riverside walkway in front of the UN FAO building. Spinning Dwarf collected my money and I later asked him for the links to the videos he was taking. Barbie was bitching about his plantar fasciitis to visitor Special Ed. Due to the holiday there were a lot of familiar faces from other Bangkok hashes including John and Kung Belgrave, Hot Lips, Max Fuckedher, Junior Jerker, Huge Jackman, Maurice, Snakebite and Patpom. Three harriettes from Hanoi were also visiting. The following 27 second video clip lets you see some of their faces:
Bullet called On On and the hare Rawhide, for some reason, decided to run upriver with the pack. Co-hare Virginia Slim went in the opposite direction to organize a Beer Stop. The trail was obviously going to be a right-hander. We managed to miss Khao San Road altogether and first encountered the masses while crossing Tanao Road to the back alley between KS Road and Ratchadamnoen as seen in the video below:
At Chakrabongse Road, Bengt was graciously guiding hashers across the road to the Chang Towers where VS was serving beer as witnessed in the video below. Hashflash Checkless was busy snapping pics and Teeny and Bimbo were busy chugging beer.
It was a short jog back to the river where fortunately Nibbles had ample beer for the throng of thirsty hashers. A makeshift “circle” was formed on the walkway and GM Bullet and RA Sizzler did their things. Rawhide arrived back last ... amazing how a hare could get lost on his own trail.
The food in the riverside restaurant was good, the beers were plentiful and the cost was heavily subsidized by the hares. Despite what many veteran BH3 members predicted was going to be a unmitigated disaster, this turned out to be probably the greatest Bangkok Songkran hash of all time. On on!
