Hare: The Senator

First write-up

Senator’s run as always was a nice evening. Starting at Gustavia Restaurant we meandered down the road toward the back of the old Steak Baan Daeng where we used to run. Eatan and visitor Goldfinger ran off and left us to our own devices at first but Pom and Gung broke checks and helped out the back of the pack.

Always Cums Last probably could have helped break checks but she bounced around the trail like an energizer bunny never knowing which direction to go. We soon were back on the khlong path heading away from home until we hit a check. After much milling around it was a back check. Down an unmarked khlong we stupidly went then found paper and ran backwards on the trail for a bit before Checkless realized our error and called us back. By this time Maverick, Hot Mix, Slippery When Wet and all the rest of the pack had caught up. (Well except Tickler).

Instead of continuing down the khlong we surprisingly turned up to Krungthep Kreetha Road and left onto the main road for a km and a half. Now we found Eetan who had become bored and was walking. Later we found out the Senator got sick in the middle of the trail called for his driver’s help, so his driver laid paper down the road from the van till Senator felt better and took us back onto side roads and khlong paths again.

Hot Mix provided after run cheese and the Hash piss the normal assortment of snacks. Fast run just over 6 km, the last three straggling in were the Captain, Hot Mix, and Tickler. After a bit of rest and refreshments, Always Cums Last called the circle. Hare Senator was honored, brown paper bags handed out before the circle meant all agreed it was a good run. Visitors Goldfinger, Pat Pom and Snakebite were recognized. Somebody was a returner – Crash maybe.

RA punishments were just a few, Eetan blamed for making us run down Krungthep Kreetha Road as a stand in for Senator’s driver. Checkless and Eetan sang us a Christmas song which after weeks of practice was still not quite right. Eetan, Checkless, Goldfinger, and Pom were Prick of the week nominees – of course it went to Goldfinger.

Finally there was a superb feast with lots of beer heavily subsidized by Senator – thank you hare. On on to next week.

Second write-up

With Gustavia being the designated a-site for BMH3 run 2035, I was automatically in for attending this run. Although the trails in this area are quite challenged, the eats prepared by this establishment are excellent. About 30 seconds before the pack set off, The Senator approached me looking very distressed and asked "will do the write-up"? I replied that "I just did the BMH3 write-up 3 weeks ago"! I said besides, it is not your job to select a scribe that is the responsibility of the OnSec Checkless! But Checkless is not doing his job, replied The Senator. Nothing new here. Former GM Codpiece is partly to blame for this predicament by selecting an incompetent for this position. I reluctantly agreed to the scribe request only after having a 3 week break.

As the pack set off out the back of the car park along one of the usual routes, front runners were returning back along the out trail looking very disoriented. Eetan and Cums-in-spurts were running in very tight circles screaming "RU". Boob-a-lube said there is a check up the road and nothing forward so it must be back! Wrong again Boob! The check was broken forward! The trail crosses a sturdy wooden bridge and onto a familiar gravel lane that has not been used in several years. Then the path is back up onto a khlong pathway and headed toward Unico Golf course. By this point, I could see front runners Checkless, Always Cums Last, Eetan and Pat Pom about 300 meters ahead closely followed by Goldfinger, Slippery-When-Wet, Maverick, Svend and 4X2 as mid-pack competitors. Back of the pack stragglers included Hot Mix, Sizzler and Captain Erik.

It was at this point on the walkway between Krungthep Kreetha and Unico Golf courses that Eat me and Crash decided that a u-turn back to the a-site was in order to begin their drinking activities. In another 500 meters the trail intersected Krungthep Kreetha Road and the pack was bunched up looking for the trail. Normally the trail continues under the bridge to the khlong pathway north of the road, but frontrunners return from this path without finding chalk or paper. After a few more minutes of wonderment, on-on is called heading east along Krungthep Kreetha Road! You gotta be shitting me! But no, a solid 1.5km along the road until turning south along Soi C2 and then west for the on-in!

Pre-circle activities included heavy drinking by Checkless and Eetan and a lot of bitching about the 1.5km bit of trail along Krungthep Kreetha Road. The contribution of cheese from Hot Mix to the snack table was much appreciated and quickly consumed! Gm Always Cums Last called the circle to order and immediately brought in the hare and invited comments about the trail from various members of the pack. The general consensus was the trail was very good! Really? I believe those comments were tempered with the possible retribution on work permits and visas from the powerful and highly politically connected Senator! The circle was then passed along to RA Boob-a-lube who launched immediately into his insult-riddled gospel that had a few female members of the pack crying. Charges moved quickly to the "prick of the week". The lucky recipient was Goldfinger (a Wisconsin cheese-head). He liked the award so much that he refused to take it off! Announcements and social imbibing closed off the circle and the on-after continued in the restaurant.

The Senator presented quite a spread consisting of pizza, pasta, lasagna and a few Thai dishes. All was quite tasty and washed down with ample quantities of beer, wine and Black Cock! The entire meal was only 200 baht per person which was heavily subsidized by the hare. Thank you Senator and on-on!
