BMH3 History Revisited With the sun setting at 17:52, warnings of a long run, and an endpoint not near the bag drop starting point, I made the prudent decision to do two things I rarely do on the Monday Hash, bring a torch and my phone. After a four-station journey northward on the skytrain, we began running around 5:30pm. Plenty of concrete roads took us all the way from Phahonyotin Road to Vipavadi Rangsit. In the distance I saw the FRBs crossing over ten lanes of traffic on the ground and under six lanes of tollway. At this point I bailed on the hare’s trail and short cut down the eastern side of the highway. Enjoyed the great scenery, the highlights being the Yakult factory and Kasetsart University.

Whipped out the phone and found the khlong with a footpath almost all the way back to the B (or C) point. Paper and arrows, illuminated by my torch, on the khlong path indicated I had found the "on in" trail. Just a few SCB Hashers including visitor Get Lost and late-arriving (and inebriated) Nibbles and Normal greeted me at the piss truck after completing 7.4 kms. FRBs took much longer and ran over 11kms but they did make it to the aforementioned site of BMH3 Run #1. Straggler Keith "Diaorhea" arrived back just as we were finishing up the circle. And we adjourned to dinner at one of the many, many, many outdoor restaurants. Thanks Hazukashii for a historic run. Hare Haz is a history buff and author of the soon to be released book on the history of the Hash, so let me include this historic BMH3 document:

Of the 34 hounds to attend BMH3 Run #1 on March 8, 1982, I have been privileged to meet 14 of them (and have attended the funerals of Pitak, Derek, Tim, and Hugo). They include Dave Cobbett, Richard Ellis, Peter Herning, Richard White, Pitak Chunthong, Roger Crutchley, Hugo Steiner, Tony Waltham, Terry Moore, Derek Enscoe, Knut Herzer, Tim Hughes, Wolfgang Stuetzel, and Geoff Conner. So, I totally aced the pre-run prep, right? I mean, I totally read the instructions. Not. Somehow, I ended up parking at the A site, blissfully unaware that I needed to make my way to the BTS station. Like, seriously? I wandered around like a lost puppy, asking random Hashers for directions. Eventually, I found the BTS station, only to realize I had to wait downstairs. Classic.

And get this: I forgot my running shoes. I had to run in my office shoes. Talk about a fashion statement!

The run itself was a rollercoaster. Made my way from my current house to the house I rented 35 years ago. Talk about a blast from the past! Then, I followed the canal and did some serious off-roading. I swear, I almost tripped over a dinosaur fossil.

So, then to the run itself. Old trail out to the bridge. made wrong turn, as was direction Viphavadee. Then a bit of boring run (but no choice) to finally come out at V. From V towards Rama Gardens. Used to run there after work (work was next door). The over the road (long live the new line). Along the old railroad. Bit deeper away from V. to come out near the Hospital. From there, with a few checks along the canal towards our end goal, the parking lot.

By the time I got back to the parking lot, half the Hashers were already there. Shortcutters. Psh. Next time, I'm bringing a GPS and a personal trainer. Shortcutters...

Time for some bevies. And the circle.

The circle was as quick as a flash! I thought I was safe, hiding behind the food table, but nope! The RA had eyes in the back of his head. Next thing I know, the stripped down me (to my skivvies) and I was crowned the illustrious Prick of the Week. Cheers to another fantastic Hashing experience!

The FOOD. Nice restaurant. Plenty of food. Plenty of drinks. And some white stuff too...

That Hare for a trip down memory lane. A great Monday evening.
