Location: Rice City, Kanchanapisek Road (East)
Hares: 4x2 and Eat Me
Scribe: Maverick

This week's run was at a venue new to BMH3, though just up the road from a restaurant that was popular with BMH3 about ten years ago. Befitting a run in such ancient Hash territory we had a number of runners we don't see too often – Katoey Kick Boxer escaping the boredom of Singapore, Thebathtian, George of the Jungle (who turned up the traditional 15 minuites late), McSwirley, and the welcome return of GM No No.

At 5:15 there was no sign of the hares but shredded paper blowing around the car park gave us confidence that they had been performing their task, so the GM sent the pack on its way heading north up the road, with the pace being set by Sheepshagger. Hashers who thought they were safe running along the shoulder of the main road were rudely brought back to the realities of Thai roads when motorcycles and cars passed within a hair's breadth of them. Fortunately it wasn't long before the trail took the pack, now lead by McSwirly, into a wat and onto a klong path under the main road.

We soon came to territory which had been used by the same hares with a run from Soi Chonnabot a few months previously. Indeed they even put a check at the same place where three klongs converge, with the same false trail which McSwirly went for hook, line and sinker. Those who had been on the earlier trail ignored the false trail and took the klong path over the bridge and to the right.

After a few minutes the trail left the klong path and went onto a gradually deteriorating path, culminating in a 500m wade through (literally) shitty water. This was later a topic of conversation over social drinking as Hashers scooped up peanuts from the bowl with their unwashed hands. Your scribe was disgusted with what he found in his shoes when he eventually took them off – the usual smell of ripe cheese was overwhelmed by the stink of the vile black shiggy.

This submerged path came out by a klong and a check, and a sprint down the path on the far side of the klong passing the Homestay took us to the bridge under the Outer Ring Road which we often use driving to the Homestay. Once back on the right side of the ring road we went over a wooden bridge across the klong, and promptly lost the trail. While others looked for the trail, your scribe decided to call it a day and ran back to the beer wagon along the main road accompanied by Katoey Kick Boxer. When we got back KKB's GPS said that we had done 5.9km, so it was a reasonable day's exercise. The hares told us that where we lost the trail it went into a banana plantation, but I don't think that anyone found it as the rest of the pack came back in dribs and drabs up the main road.

While storm clouds gathered there was the usual social drinking with some rather excellent smoked cheese, as well as the already mentioned extra-tasty peanuts to accompany the wide choice of beer provided by Nibbles.

Demonstrating perfect timing the GM called a circle just as the torrential rain started. With the noise of the rain it was hard to follow what was going on, but when RA Noriega got to Prick of the Week the hare, 4x2, was nominated for taking us through the revolting shiggy, closely followed by Sheepshagger for some weak excuse your scribe can't remember. There being no attractive female visitor to win the competition, in an act of desperation 4x2 nominated Maverick on the extremely weak excuse of altering the mis-directions so Bogdiver had to call him to find the restaurant. The nominations of Sheepshagger and Maverick were treated by the pack with the contempt they deserved and 4x2 got the award.

It was just about at this time that the rain eased off and then stopped altogether allowing social drinking before some went to the OnOnOn and some went home.

OnOn.
