Putting my trust in off-line Google maps I got a taxi from Sukhumvit road. It was just under 3 hours since my plane touched down, having just had time to drop off my cases and shower.

Traffic was bad, so the journey was slow, better to have walked to it, like KC or run to it like the GM, if I'd had time. As we got close, I saw Spinning Dwarf, so knew the map had worked ok.

Arriving at the RV, there was KC and the hare, Codpiece, relaxing with a beer. Gradually Hashers and harriettes appeared and then the GM called a circle. Codpiece said the ~7km trail was marked in paper and chalk. Hopefully the rain would hold off.

We set off right out of the car park then left on the large road to cross via a footbridge to come back on the other side. Trail went into a wrecked building and up to what seemed like a drug den sheltered space. The GM and Filipina Sarah were there first, or maybe not as KC had disappeared earlier by crossing the road, we thought. Trail was found left, just before the building shell and the runners were called back on.

Further on I caught up KC who came back out of a left turn into a field. He said "it's not that way" as he and Spinning Dwarf had found a check, checked it out, found nothing, so it must be straight down the road. "Follow me", he said, which I did briefly before coming to my senses. Going back I met other runners and we found trail going left through a wall onto road. The markings were good and quite easy to see. Mijo Slut said afterwards, though, that he found them difficult because he wasn't used to paper in poles. We kept the 4 or 5 runners together at the front.

One check that slowed us a bit was just inside a small park with crosses on stumps, it turned out to be a back check, left onto a small path leading besides a klong. Eventually the path came to a lady with a blue chair, seemingly blocking the path but she helpfully moved the chair to show an arrow pointing through her house it seemed.

It began to get dark and rain started but warm rain. Eventually we got back onto the large road we started out on and ran back in. I didn't see an On In marked, probably washed out. I got 8.43km and a time of 1 hour 20 mins. Others were back already having done shorter trails or maybe not gone out. Everyone chatted, rested, changed, refreshed their fluids until circle was called. I don't recall many charges except visitors and returners but there was a run off vocal vote that saw Malinee lose to Filipina Sarah.

Codpiece explained the food was ready as we all took too long to do his short 50 minute trail and the restaurant had stayed open late for us. Nevertheless it was nice food and beer that he subsidised so we only pay 100 baht.

It was for me nice to be back again in the company of friends, old and new.
