Run:- 2157, 28 April 2025
Location:- Chonburi M'way, Gustavia
Hare:- The Nigerian

Pattanakarn Soi 25 is the new Sanitary Section. "The Port" as we used to call it. We ran our 1,000th run from The Port. We ran from the Port three or four times a year. You knew what you were getting. A chartered boat across the Chao Phraya from the miserable old woman’s ferry service. She refused to allow a group of Hashers to go across on the 5 Baht ferry. She made us charter a longtail boat to take us across the river. It wasn’t just the Hash that she took advantage of. She was reviled by locals too. There was a clip on a Thai social media/website a few years ago of a disgruntled passenger throwing a punch at her.

But enough of this. What does it have to do with last Monday’s run site. Krua Rim Mong (Kitchen at the edge of the Tunnel) on Pattanakarn Soi 25. Well, not much, other than that it has become the new go-to run site for the Monday Hash.

It looked like a small pack when we started. The Nigerian explained that the run would have checks, FTs and a Walk/Run split. He also said that he did 2.75 km the day before, an additional 5.5 today and that the blue paper he laid the day before might have got washed away.

We made our way to Klong Baan Pa, over Pattankarn Road and continued down the klong until we got to the intersection with Klong Sakae. The hare then took us through an alleyway and back onto Klong Baan Pa. Down to the mosque to a check where we continued down the klong. A craft W/R split took the runners an additional 200 meters or so more than the Walkers. Then it was off the klong, past a market, through backstreets in the city and back onto Klong Baan Pa and On In along Pattanakarn Soi 26.

Hang on a minute. That wasn’t last Monday that I was writing about. It was last Wednesday, same hare. I apologise for the confusion. Never mind. Change the name of the klongs and use your imagination.

We were at Gustavia. Another ‘the new Port’ run sites. Does it make any difference? Klong this, klong that? We had a nice run. A big loop to the north. Predictable, but fun.

Back at the beer it was apparent that there were several more people than had started the run. 24 in total. GM called the circle bringing a huge number of visitors, seven in all that pushed up the numbers for the week. Drinks Like a Girl was responsible for making four of them late. Prick of the Week was given to the visitor from Beijing who noted that the prick is decomposing – maybe we need a new one. GM – Hash Cash? Your thoughts.

A massive feed of an OnOnOn at Gustavia did not disappoint. The place has changed from a restaurant to a ‘pub’ with the inevitable singer (he was good). The menu is still the same though and the choice of pizza at the OnOnOn is always welcome. Thanks The Nigerian.
